Dragon & Lion Dance

Each performance is more than a show; it is a traditional ceremony performed to ward away negative energies and summon luck and prosperity for the community and the host.

A Symbolic Ceremony for Luck and Fortune

The Lung Ying Academy has been performing for decades. As the very first professional team in Ireland, we have performed in city arenas and festivals, as well as adding a unique spiritual touch to private weddings and grand openings.

The Heritage

Symbolic Features & Protection

The Southern Lion features a mirror on the forehead to reflect negativity and a single horn representing its power. Every costume used by the academy is traditionally blessed before use, making them spiritually protective symbols of cultural heritage.

The red sash tied to the lion’s horn represents the Goddess of Mercy (Guan Yin), who restored the lion’s strength to protect the people. This ancient story of compassion and courage is woven into every performance we give.

Professional Team & Performance

Our team consists of two lion dancers and approximately four live musicians. We provide a professional experience rooted in decades of practice, bringing the legend of the “Nian” monster to life through synchronized movement and traditional drumming.

A Lineage Preserved for Decades From national parades to the quiet grounds of the Slane Temple, we maintain the original format of the dance as it was practiced in the Shaolin Temples, ensuring the spirit of the Dragon remains unchanged in Ireland.

Bring the Spirit of the Dragon to Your Event

Whether for a wedding, festival, or corporate opening, we provide an authentic and captivating experience.
